Principal's Message

 

Happy October Pelican Families,
The 2026–2027 school year is off to a wonderful start! Our students have quickly settled into familiar routines and procedures, allowing our teachers to focus on delivering high-quality instruction grounded in effective instructional practices. Through thoughtful modifications and a continued commitment to meeting the individual needs of our students, we are seeing wonderful progress through our Tier 1 instruction.
 

As we approach the close of Quarter 1 on October 9 and prepare to begin Quarter 2 on October 14, we are proud of the growth and accomplishments of our students and grateful for the continued support of our families.
October brings cooler seasonal changes, exciting school activities, and many opportunities for our Pelican families to connect with our school community. Please take note of the following important dates and events:
- PTO Fall Fun Run Fundraiser: September 28-October 9
- Mimosa Park Book Fair: October 19-October 30
- Individual Picture Retakes: Tuesday, October 20. Students who missed school pictures in September will have their pictures taken on this day. Students should wear their school uniform.
- Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences: October 22-23. Please remember that both days will be early dismissal days. Students will be dismissed at 12:45 PM.
- Red Ribbon Week: October 26-30.  Students will participate in fun and meaningful activities designed to promote healthy choices and encourage a commitment to living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
- Halloween Activities: Friday, October 30.  Students are welcome to wear Halloween costumes to school Please remember that masks are NOT permitted.
 

As we continue working together to support our students, there are several simple ways families can help their children develop strong academic habits and experience continued success:
- Review your child’s folder and homework assignments each day.
- Read with your child and practice math facts each evening.
- Review, sign, and promptly return folders, progress reports, and other important papers.
- Maintain open and ongoing communication with your child’s teacher so that questions or concerns can be addressed promptly.
- Encourage your child and celebrate their effort, growth, and accomplishments along the way.
 

Thank you for partnering with us and for the time and encouragement you provide at home. Your support with homework and daily learning helps foster confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

We have so much to be thankful for and proud of at Mimosa Park Elementary! Our students, families, teachers, and staff make MPE a truly special place to learn and grow.
